INTRODUCTION

Arrowsmith School has been helping students with learning disabilities since 1980. Our program deals with the underlying causes of learning disabilities by identifying and strengthening weak cognitive capacities.

The Arrowsmith Program is founded on neuroscientific research and over 25 years of experience demonstrating that it is possible for students to strengthen the weak cognitive capacities underlying their learning dysfunctions.

Our program has proven effective for students having difficulty with reading, writing and mathematics, comprehension, logical reasoning, visual and auditory memory, non-verbal learning, attention, processing speed and dyslexia. continued

THE BRAIN THAT CHANGES ITSELF: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science
Read about Arrowsmith School and the development of the methodology underlying the Arrowsmith Program in chapter 2 of a new book by Dr. Norman Doidge, a highly respected Toronto psychiatrist and award winning author.  Dr. Doidge set out to investigate neuroplasticity and met both the brilliant scientists championing it and the people whose lives they’ve transformed. AN OVERVIEW OF THE ARROWSMITH PROGRAM FOR EDUCATORS

The goal of the Arrowsmith Program since 1978, based on many years of neuroscience research, has been to fundamentally change the capacity of the learner to learn. The premise of the Arrowsmith Program is that the learner is not fixed and that individual learning capacities can be strengthened through a program of very specific cognitive exercises.

This enables the student to learn with average or above average capacities in areas that were previously impaired.
The methodology developed at Arrowsmith School is available to public and private schools through the Arrowsmith Program which provides all of the components required for its effective implementation. continued
